"The most important thing you get out of life is the person you become."

Dallas Willard

Hi,
I'
m Pam.
It is so good to have you here!

We all have faith in something.

There is something that is forming us.

There is something that is driving us.

What is the source of your faith?

How is it forming you?

Life is difficult. It will challenge you and your faith.

It is easy to lose our way.

It is easy to focus our time and energy on the wrong things.

It is possible to live well.

It is possible to live with God.

It is possible not only to have faith but also to mature in faith.

It will take some effort to have a growing faith.

Come join me!

Let's grow in faith together!

We all have a story.

Here's a little of mine...

I grew up across the street from a large cornfield in a small town in rural Minnesota. Something about that broad space of the cornfield stirred my imagination and instilled a sense of both groundedness and possibility in me. Since then, my world has expanded beyond what I could have imagined.

I live in the Chicago suburbs with my husband and am blessed by our son and daughter, both in college now. I met my husband over 25 years ago while serving a multicultural church in Switzerland. He was born and raised in India.

I have been fortunate to have had the opportunity to serve in a variety of ways throughout the years.  At a pivotal point, I felt a call to focus on serving as a homemaker and mother.

Looking back, my life has been about one thing - a growing faith:

  • It was in the church as a teen that I discovered I had leadership skills. I was ordained and installed as a youth elder of the church.

  • As a first-generation college student, I began to build a growing confidence in God as I ventured into an unknown future. I received a BA from Buena Vista College in Storm Lake, IA.

  • As an elementary school teacher, I nurtured my love for learning and discovered that I enjoy casting a vision for and developing new initiatives. I also found a passion for helping others grow into their potential. I was trained and endorsed as a supervising mentor teacher at the University of SD.

  • At seminary, I discovered who I really am and forged a transforming friendship with Jesus. This has become the most important thing in my life. With God, our ordinary, everyday lives are remarkable. I earned a Master of Divinity and a Master of Theology from Princeton Theological Seminary.

  • As a pastor, I met the reality of sin and the power of God’s restoration. I learned about hope, humility, and forgiveness, and the goodness of God.

  • As a mother and homemaker, I learned about joy, grace, and God’s steadfast love and care. I also learned about what it means to be content.

In recent years, I have found great joy sharing life with a community of readers. What started as a blog at SeeingFireflies.com has developed into A Growing Faith.com. As I continue to seek a growing faith, I hope you will join me!

Many, Lord my God, are the wonders you have done, the things you planned for us.

None can compare with you."
